Career Zoo: Interview with Carl Dempsey, Salesforce.com

23 Sep 2014

As one of the largest business software companies in the world, Salesforce.com attended this September’s Career Zoo to connect with jobseekers and promote the brand more in Ireland.

Establishing their Irish base in Dublin in 2000, Salesforce.com say that their time in the country has been one of the multi-national company’s particular highlights, but now they feel that as a brand, events like Career Zoo give a greater chance of making them into a household name in Ireland.

Speaking to Siliconrepublic.com, the company’s vice president in sales engineering, Carl Dempsey, said that in the Irish tech scene, it has become much more competitive for employers as they compete to hire the country’s best graduates.

However, for jobseekers whose backgrounds may not directly be related to tech, Dempsey believes that curiosity plays a vital part in a person’s ability to succeed in the industry: “What’s more important, if you’ve been somewhere apart from tech, is having a curiosity about it and willing to give it a go.”
